WORLD SOCIAL FORUM: More Words than Action, Analysis by Alejandro Kirk

Interesting article on crucial debates within this loosely organized movement. In fact, the key question is on the tightness of organization, and thus touches on perhaps the key debate on the left for the last 150 years or so....

  1. Hi Doug, good to finally have the chance to read this blog. This article is just great. I'm sure you would like to read a book on the WSF by Boaventura de Sousa Santos that came out last year called "Rise of the Global Left: The World Social Forum and Beyond" (http://www.amazon.com/Rise-Global-Left-Social-Beyond/dp/1842778013/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1201637215&sr=8-18)

You might also want to joint a social movements listserv that I am part of, so that you can receive regular updates by Jai Sen, from an Indian activist research center called CACIM, which is making a really good critical assessment of the WSF process. If you want, you can E-mail my friend Laurence Cox (listserv master) at Laurence.cox@nuim.ie
