Lawrence, The Arab Revolt, WWI in the Middle East: Good Documentaries

The BBC on the map above, which is Lawrence's proposal for a post-war Middle East.

As for the playlist below: as of Feb 1 2020, all stuff is still up except part 2 of the first documentary, "T E Lawrence and Arabia..." It's worth the skip.

Also, the stuff from sam gilford, the Master Illusionist and Shadow of Failure segments, is taped so that the end of the entire episode or show begins the first video in the list, presumably to keep it from getting taken down. In any event, once you find the actual beginning in the first listed video segment, you can just let it run through all the video segments. When you're done, go back to the first video to see the last couple/few minutes.

A very interesting--and dangerous--person; a real mix of contrasts, all cliches in that overused regard aside. And a good entry point into the larger history, and that's how I organize the playlist.

I'd read his Seven Pillars of Wisdom and his friend Robert Graves' biography, just reprinted by Seven Stories Press. Read them more as literature and psychological studies than reliable history; read them like you'd read Plutarch or Shakespeare, that is. Fine work.
