Grow Up, People--and Fast: Trump is a Fascist. Period.

Trump the Fascist and his merry band of brownshirts had a ball blaming the media (to chants of "CNN sucks" when not "Lock her up!") for their own injection of vitriolic hatred into the already awful political system. This just hours after bombs were sent to CNN and many top Democrats. But somehow this is a problem on "both sides."

You know, like in Charlottesville. Both sides.

You see, one side has a few people who won't let people who support tearing children from their mothers and putting them in a concentration camp in the desert finish their meals in peace. The other supports actual Nazis who run over protesters in cars and call for violence against their political opponents, which, yes, Trump has done, explicitly, in his rallies, including just last week, to say nothing of the hardly-even-dogwhistling.

You know, equivalent.

So, kids, if you can tear yourself away from your own career, exercise plan, and mindfully pursued personal happiness: what happens if Trump loses in 2020 or impeachment actually happens because he's an actual criminal as per Mueller? Think Trump won't call his rabid maniacs out on the street, March-on-Rome style? Would he even have to do so explicitly--or even dogwhistle--or, like ISIS and Al Qaeda, is it all just automatic nowadays? I mean, why bother to coordinate among the heavily armed go-getter lunatics in your base, especially if doing so means you lose deniability, however implausible? Just plant seeds and see what grows.

You know, like making boiler-plate we're-against-people-doing-what-we-know-goddamn-well-we've-been-whipping-them-up-to-do announcements...leading with your Stepford Wife...and dropping all that pretense, deployed solely to keep the gaslighting up (and even more importantly to keep the fig leaf of decency the, yes, deplorable base needs to continue thinking they're even semi-decent people, which they are not), and n-tupling down at your next political rally. Give me a fucking break.

And, of course, now we see the cowardly defenses necessary to hide the actual moral and intellectual truth from oneself typical of the Trump supporters. "It's all a hoax...it's all the media's fault...the Democrats' fault...anyone but myself and my ilk!"

"No I'm not, YOU are!" That last line of defense that children take when they're rightly accused of bad behavior. It works on the like-minded--all of the cowards who have cuddled up to a moral disaster and ignorant, hateful fool--but they shouldn't expect anyone else to support their newfound precious little identity. They don't; it's all self-reinforcement.

Next up: "See, comments like Doug's are what caused the assassination attempts on a half dozen Democratic leaders! Look how means he is, calling us what we are! That's fascism, accusing others rightly of fascism! It's all his fault, not my support for Trump and all he's said and done, including just last night at one of his Nuremberg rallies! I'm a good person! I'm a good person, really I am! How come you no wants to pway wif me anymore? Just because I'm a hate-filled moron? So means!" Oops, sorry: put in the psychological subtext there. Here's a very good take on that psychological subtext, by the way, despite some writing issues.

A coincidence-maybe-not worthy of note: "al Qaeda" literally means "the base." We are living with a good 30-35% fascist fanatics in this country. Sorry--it's the truth, and of course they wrap themselves in the flag and carry the cross. No shit--what, unless they literally all grow Chaplin mustaches it's not fascism? Yes, Establishment Geniuses are literally this stupid. Many others, too--ignorant, stupid, full of illusions about their country, people, themselves. That's why the fascists are winning.

Punchline? At least half of the Responsible Types in the media will agree with Trump in a big mea culpa...and will then tone down criticism of a neofascist regime. In order to prevent fascism. Makes sense, right?

Even when they try to be "critical" and "fight" they fail; viz.--

Jeff Zucker of CNN, the network that helped elevate Trump and made a mint off it:

There is a total and complete lack of understanding at the White House about the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media. The President, and especially the White House Press Secretary, should understand their words matter. Thus far, they have shown no comprehension of that.
Me:
They've shown total and complete understanding of how violent, fascist, racist, xenophobic, misogynistic rhetoric can whip up hatred, consolidate a base of political support, and translate into actions in the real world, whether bills or pipe bombs. They of course understand that, and I wish CNN, et al, would stop pussyfooting around the issue: this is a 21st-century fascist movement, part of a global and increasingly coordinated one. Yes, here in Exceptional America, Freedom's Land and Bravery's Home. And there'll be no Red Army or Patton's tanks to roll it back.
So, will everyone not a Trump bot reading this do something about it--give money, time, effort; coordinate in response--or just go back to bolstering the resume and updating LinkedIn?
Mel Brooks:
Evil triumphs because good is stupid.
Howard Zinn:
Society has varying and conflicting interests; what is called objectivity is the disguise of one of these interests--that of neutrality. But neutrality is a fiction in an unnatural world. There are victims, there are executioners, and there are bystanders...and the 'objectivity' of the bystander calls for inaction while other heads fall.
Trump, not an hour ago, on Twitter:

A very big part of the Anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the Mainstream Media that I refer to as Fake News. It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream Media must clean up its act, FAST!
