Thomas Frank on the Democrats, 2017-2018

Four hours in nine parts; see the embedded playlist at the bottom of this post. It is well worth watching.

And here’s a shorter, one-speech, more recent version, and also two mostly unrelated interviews from this past May, one on the Russiagate hysteria/massively dangerous overswing and one on Frank’s usual point: time to go left-populist for all the right reasons, from policy to politics.

If you’re wondering why I put a photo of Frank in this post, it’s because Blogger won’t pull the playlist thumbnail, so if I don’t put in a photo above the playlist, you’ll just see that “no-video gray icon with three dots” thing on the blog’s homepage. And you’ll rightly think the videos have been pulled from YouTube. Hence the photo in this an all playlist-proffering posts.

I’m glad we cleared that up; now get yourself Franked! And attend as well to this report on a recent study, linked herein, that pretty much proves what we all should already know: “electability” means “moderates we can trust to enact our ever-rightward-drifting, ever-triangulating, ever-space-for-Trumpism-creating set of policies that have led to the loss of a thousand state legislature seats, the Congress, the Supreme Court, much of the rest of the judiciary, and, of course, the presidency—and to a near-fascist loony toon who was the least popular politician in the country when he won, but, trust us, we’re the experts on winning, not those fucking retarded professional liberal moron-deplorables who, if ever given power, would surely lose a thousand state legislature seats, the Congress, the Supreme Court, must of the rest of the judiciary, and, of course, the presidency. So we must stop them, at all costs!”
