Tax Day Is Coming: Offset Your Tax Dollars to Israel

April Fools: Bush Wants You to Spend
Your Tax Rebate this Way

Dear Doug,

Next month, the IRS will be sending most taxpayers a check for $600 as part of an economic stimulus plan passed by Congress and signed by the President.

George Bush wants you to spend the money shopping. We have a better idea. Donate part or all of your economic stimulus check to the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation to offset your tax-payer contributions to the Israeli military. To do so, please click here.

In 2007, the United States gave Israel $2.34 billion in military aid to enforce its illegal military occupation and siege of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

That amounts to each individual tax payer giving on average $8.56 to Israel to commit its human rights abuses.

With a tax-deductible contribution of $100-just 1/6 of your tax rebate-you can offset your 2007 tax contribution to the Israeli military and those of 10 other people as well. To do so, please click here.

Donate all of your tax rebate to the US Campaign and offset the tax contributions of 70 people by clicking here.

The US Campaign will use your tax-deductible contribution to continue its educational and organizing work to challenge military aid to Israel and to change U.S. policy toward Palestine/Israel to support human rights, international law, and equality for all. If you agree that this is a good use of your tax rebate, then click here.

Offsetting your tax contributions to the Israeli military is not the only way to take action to oppose U.S. aid to Israel. See below for action ideas:

1. Have your organization endorse our sign-on letter to the appropriations subcommittee calling for it to cut off military aid to Israel. More than 325 organizations from 40 states plus the District of Columbia and groups of U.S. citizens abroad have already signed the letter. To add your organization's endorsement to the list below, click here.

2. Call the appropriations subcommittee and let them know you oppose military aid to Israel. Call the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs at 202-225-2041 to express your opposition to $2.55 billion in military aid for Israel proposed in the FY2009 budget.

3. Send your own personal letter to members of the subcommittee. Each member of the subcommittee has already received more than 4,500 letters from individuals opposing military aid to Israel. Be sure to send your letter prior by clicking here.

4. Organize with us to challenge military aid to Israel. Help us to educate and organize people in your community to challenge military aid to Israel by signing up for an organizing packet which includes fact sheets, petitions, and postcards by clicking here. We've already sent out 200 organizing packets around the country. Join us in our ongoing campaign to challenge military aid to Israel and sign up to be a volunteer organizer by clicking here.

Don't forget to donate a portion or all of your tax rebate to the US Campaign to help us continue challenging U.S. military aid to Israel by clicking here.
